Shabbos Miracle: The Girl Who Stood Firm & Witnessed a Miraculous Turn of Events Rabbi Paysach Krohn

Rabbi Paysach Krohn retells a story about a girl who did not accept a job at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory because she would have had to work on Shabbos. She remembered the words of her father, "Countries change and cultures change, but the Toah is constant - the Torah doesn't change." Her life was saved when there was a fire at the factory that weekend. I was remimded about what I posted yesterday about a woman who was officiating at at Yom Kippur service, who made a comment before the reading of the Torah which details forbidden relations. "We are reading the section of the Torah about rules about holiness. How to be a holy person, how to live a holy life. If you're following along, I'd encourage you to think critically about they ways that we today in 2023 live a holy life an how that is sometimes consistent with what we read here and how sometimes our world keeps moving on."

No, our world does not keep moving on against the principles of the Torah.

Canada’s House Speaker Apologizes After Ukrainian Who Fought for Nazis Was Honored

One comment that I wholeheartedly agree with posted on a livestream from Park Avenue Synagogue as Dr. Martin Indyk and Richard Haass discuss current events on Yim Kippur. - My 2 cents: Politics-related talk should not be part of this; this is a day to focus on other things.

Another moment that caught my attention was when the woman who was officiating the service made a comment before the reading of the Torah which details forbidden relations.

The Jerusalem Post opinion about Amiram Ben-Uliel is so full of omissions that it is not worth reading. Never is it mentioned that he has been in solitary confinement for the past 8 years and the fact that his admission of guilt was obtained under torture is lightly glossed over.

Rabbi Braun's Approach

The Princeton case: ‘Academic freedom’ to attack Jews

BDE: Rabbi Menachem Mendel Braun, z’l

I belong to a Tehillim whatsapp group where people post requests to say Psalms for individuals who are in need. When I received a request to say Tehillim for Rabbi Menachem Braun, I had no idea who he was, but I immediately committed to reciting a few perakinm on his behalf. In the meantime, I looked him up and found a beautiful video about him over here and I was filled with renewed vigor to pray for such an individual. Unfortunately, his levaya is being held today. But, I am not sorry that I had the zechut to participate in a communal prayer. There is a request to say mishnayot leilui nishmato whoch can be found in the article linked above. BDE.
