The Ethics Probe Request

Mike Stern: The Everyman Rabbi

For those of you who missed my post from yesterday, here is an interesting video in Hebrew with a medrash from  Shir HaShirim predicting the Western Wall will always stand.

Tiana Lowe wrote an article the other day in which she posted various traffic violations for Rep. Ilhan Omar and her husband. The last document is about a man named Ahmed Said Elmi. The representative was briefly married to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, so I assume Ms. Lowe posted the document because she thought the individual was the same person as Ms. Omar's previous husband.
However, the date of birth of this individual was 1/1/1988. Since the marriage certificate contains a different date of birth, how can it be the same individual? Interestingly, the date of birth 1/1/1988 differs in only one digit from Rep. Omar's current husbnad, whose birthday is 1/1/1980.

Human Rights Watch Confirms Palestinian Toddler & Mother Were Killed By Their Own, Not Israel

This is how AlJazeera reported the above incident.

Ibtessam Abu Arar, aunt of Siba, the 14-month old infant who died in the Israeli raid, said: "The Israeli plane fired a missile near the house and the shrapnel entered the house and hit the poor baby."

The Emoji Championship Round

Sefaria is running a Torah emoji championship round, asking readers on its Facebook page to cast a vote as to which of two Torah images they prefer for the emoji. The one on the left is an open Torah with Hebrew words from Parshat Bereshit, while the one on the right is a closed sefer Torah. One voter wrote, " I love the one on the left but it does upset me that it appears to be evenly rolled on both sides even though it’s bereshit!"

I personally hope the one on the right is selected since the one on the left contains the beginning words of Parshat Bereshit and I feel it would be problematic to have G-d's name in the image. To view, click here and to vote, click here.
