The Power of Prayer and Words

What happened to the American Psychological Association?

Hillel Fuld posted on Facebook about his meeting with Douglas Murray, a staunch advocate for Israel.

We discussed so many topics including the million dollar question, why is moral clarity so rare nowadays?
He told me that Raoul Wallenberg who wasn’t Jewish but saved so many Jews in the holocaust is his hero. I told him that, as far as I’m concerned, he is the Raoul Wallenberg of our generation.
I also asked him, as someone who is not Jewish and didn’t grow up in a Zionist home, where he gets his love for Israel from. He looked at me confused and said “I grew up knowing how to differentiate between right and wrong. It’s that simple.”

Isn't it Ironic?

Baruch Green calls attention to the irony in a NYTimes article.

The Times article headline has a different notion of the Jewish faith than does Jewish scripture. “Is Israel part of what it means to be Jewish?” the article asks, noting that “some progressive Jews” embrace “diasporism,” thus “reimagining their faith as one that blesses their lives in America and elsewhere.”

... A photo in the Times article, of a right hand’s index finger pointing to a passage from the Talmud, calls attention to the Aramaic text about how a Jewish man must not walk more than a certain, short distance without a yarmulke on his head.

Ironically, the other side of the page photographed in the Times cites a discussion in which one rabbi asks another whether one can legally leave Israel. “It is forbidden,” the second rabbi says.

Parshat Bo

It says in the first verse in this weeks sedra – “And Hashem said to Moshe, Come to paroh.” Surely it would of mean more appropriate to say “go to paroh!” Why does the Torah use this terminology?

R’ Menachem Mendel of Kotzk says that the term “Come to Paroh” means that Hashem is saying to Moshe: “Paroh is a powerful man, but dont be afraid of him, come with me and I will protect you”

Two who were Murdered

The Pure Soul

THhere are two videos posted below. In the first one, the brother of Yehuda Bacher, z'l, speaks about his brother being aptly named, as the word, "Yehuda" is connected to giving thanks. Yehuda gave thanks to Hashem consistently throughout his short life. In the second video, his brothers, along with Avishai, sing a song that was constantly on Yehuda's lips, "Elokei Neshama." From now on when you say the prayer, say it with extra intent, as a zechut for Yehuda.
