Hungary: Jewish group apologizes for signing pro-marriage statement

- Message from mother of 10 year old boy Chaim Shaul Ben Pessel: - Many have asked us what more can they do to help our son? In consultation with a Rav, we would appreciate the following: As we are taught, it is so important to constantly see Hashem's goodness all the time and thank Him for all aspects of our life. Even for the most common and mundane matters. Such an outlook has the power to bring tremendous Yeshuos and Chasadim to us. We are asking you all to please be Mekabel to notice Hashem's Chesed and thank Him for it at least once a day. May this be a zechus that Chaim Shaul Ben Pessel should have a Refuah Shelaima B'karov! Please pass this on to whomever you can think of. We need all the zechusim we can get! Thank you

Happiness

The woman approached me in the synagogue this morning asking me, "Are you coming to the shiur today at my house?"

Uncomprehendingly, I responded, "what shiur?"

"You mean your husband didn't tell you? That's not nice."

She proceeded to tell me the details and I reassured her that I would be there.

After shul, I asked my husband why he hadn't relayed the message to me about the shiur and he responded that he hadn't know about it. The woman's husband had not mentioned it to himr and he muted the whatsap messages from the shul, after being bombarded with messages.

When I arrived at the woman's house, I was going to explain to her why my husband not said anything to me. But I stopped myself. Perhaps she had asked her husband to tell me about the lecture and he had forgotten to do so. I did not want to cause friction between husband and wife. To me, it was more important that she think highly of her husband rather than mine.

She had told me what my husband had done was not nice. Causing friction between a married couple is not nice, as well.

SJP Poster sparks backlash, motion to censure

VSA and SJP statements about recent poster controversy

This morning, I came across an article describing the "desecration" of the Second Temple during the period of Chanukah. I also came across a somewhat different article describing another "desecration."

After years of shared civil existence among the citizens of Judea, Antiochus IV Epiphanes, proved to be less kind towards the Jews. He outlawed the Jewish religion, including any observance of the Sabbath, circumcision, kosher slaughter, and Jewish prayer in the Temple and ordered the Jews to worship Greek gods.

In 168 B.C., his soldiers attacked Jerusalem, killing thousands of people and desecrating the city’s holy Second Temple by erecting an altar to Zeus and sacrificing pigs within its sacred walls. Mothers who circumcised their sons were flung from Jerusalem’s walls to their deaths. A ninety year-old man named Eliezar was executed for his refusal to eat pork. Martyrdom became commonplace, though perhaps the most famous was that of Hannah and her seven sons, who were killed one by one before her eyes before she herself was killed. https://israelforever.org/history/chanukah/

The Censure

StopAntisemitism.org posted the above on its twitter account.

Below is the way the Times Herald-Record described the event. Is there a reason why "antisemitic" is in quotes?

The Newburgh City Council voted unanimously to censure Councilman-at-Large Omari Shakur on Monday night after making what some council members described as "antisemitic" remarks.

The Slaughter Ban

WJC slams EU and Belgian courts for religious slaughter ban

Genocide is understood by most to be the gravest crime against humanity.

It is defined as a mass extermination of a particular group of people - exemplified by the efforts of the Nazis to eradicate the Jewish population in the 1940s.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-11108059

A Palestinian population chart shows the population at under 1,000,000 in 1950 and over 5,200,000 in 2021. Would that fit into the narrative os Israel practicing ethnic genocide? Kamala Harris, nod yes or no.

Now you see it, now you don't

This morning, I saw a tweet by Gary Weiss about a line in a NYT article. The NYT article, as of this morning at 2 AM, contained the following line.

The tableau underscored how wrenching the vote was for even outspoken progressives, who have been caught between their principles and the still powerful pro-Israel voices in their party, such as influential lobbyists and rabbis.

https://web.archive.org/web/20210924025238/https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/23/us/politics/israel-iron-dome-congress.html

Gary Weiss tweeted, "@nytimes frames the #IronDome vote as pitting "principles"----the honorable goal of Israeli civilians getting murdered by Hamas---and the raw naked power of the evil Jew Lobby. Including rabbis! It's that bad!"

If you check the article online today, notice words that have been deleted from the article.
