A Silver Lining

התפללו

Today I came across a video questioning whether there was a silver lining because of the coronavirus outbreak. A while later I was on the Torahanytime site and saw the following words:

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, TorahAnytime has had an unprecedented amount of visitors. Because of this, you may experience some technical difficulties with our site.

I guess there is a silver lining as more people than usual are learning Torah on this site.

From yourselves

"Kichu Mayitchem";"Take from yourselves a separation as a donation to the Mishkan." What does this peculiar word "Mayitchem" - "from yourselves" come to teach us? Isn't it obvious that the donations are coming from yourselves?

The Kli Yakar answers, many times people give Tzedoka only because of social pressures. They feel that they must give because it would be embarrassing to say "no" to the prominent Rosh Yeshiva who came to his house. Or at an appeal in his Shul, it would be disgraceful for him if he does not announce that he too is giving a substantial sum to this worthy cause, after all his buddies threw around the "big numbers". Such donations are not Mayitchem - from yourselves. It is not you giving the money, rather the social pressure of others. The pasuk is telling us that for the donations of the Mishkan it should be purely yours. Whatever you give should be what you would like to give, not what you would like others to think that you gave!

Attorney At Center Of New Rochelle Coronavirus Outbreak Wakes From Coma

The Medrash says that Moshe Rabbeinu asked Hashem, if the Bais HaMikdash is destroyed where will Hashem's Shechina rest. Hashem answered that it will rest on the Tzadikim of each generation. The Gemara in Succah (45b) says that each generation has 36 tzaddikim that greet the Shechina every day.

Rav Shlomo Levenstein in Chaim Shel Torah says there is a Remez to this in the first words of Parshas Pikudei. Pikudei according to many Meforshim means "missing" or "lacking". Eileh is gematria 36. "Eileh Pikudei HaMishkan". What will happen with the Shechina when "Pikudei HaMishkan", when the Mishkan is missing, asks the Torah? Eileh, the Shechina will rest among the 36 tzaddikim.

Blessings to the Almighty

The first person in Israel who recovered from the virus was released from the hopital and interviewed by a journalist. The first thing the man did was to recite the prayer of "Shema" and the blessing of "Shehechiyanu." Watch in the link below.
