Corrections

The Daily Mail published an article about a retired high school English teacher who received a letter from the White House. She corrected the grammatical errors and sent it back. Perhaps the teacher would like to correct the errors in the article.

"Mason posted a photo of the letter, printed on White House stationary and bearing President Trump's signature, on which she has made her own corrections."

"Photos of the letter, which has since been mailed back to the White House, has attracted hundreds of shares and likes since it was posted on Facebook last week."

While she's at it, the teacher can make corrections to an official lyrics video which was posted to YouTube yesterday.

"Those ocean waves just blue then they've been."

"Cause I'm captivated by the world when all it's hues unfold."

The American Mainstream Media’s Pro-Terrorist Anti-Israel Bias

Dutch public broadcasting channel: ''Toy' parody is not anti-Semitic'

This morning I came across a twitter feed with comments about the Eurovision contest which included a tweet, "No place for a country intent on genocide and racial discrimination in Eurovision."
Another person tweeted, "Who did Israel pay? Their pockets are deep, the money lenders of old! They were this first real loan sharks as religion wouldn’t allow money lending."
When she was called out for her tweet, she responded, "I’m not against Jews in the slightest just against what Israel are doing to the Palestinians and the rest of the Middle East. This is the trouble as soon as you criticise Israel you are called anti Semitic!"

Excuse me, but wasn't she the one to insert religion into her tweet?

The pasuk says (7:12) “VaYehi HaMakriv B’Yom Rishon Es Korbonoi Nachshon Ben Aminadav”; the one to sacrifice the Korban on the first day was Nachshon Ben Aminadav. The gemara in Megila (10b) tells us that “VaYehi” can mean sadness. Why was Nachshon so sad on this great day of Chanukas HaMishkan where he was rightfully honored to be the first Nasi to bring his Korban?

Rav Pinchos MiKoritz says that his modesty and humility caused him great pain when receiving this honor. Why him first? Why was he so special? This is why the pasuk says “Es Korbonoi Nachshon”; Nachshon himself was sacrificed when he was honored to bring the Korban. (Iturei Torah)

הגאון הבני ברקי שנודע בעולם בזכות ברכותיו

The Mishna says in Brachos that the Chazan should not say Amein after Birchas Kohanim because he will become disoriented. The SHaarei Tefila beings that Rav Bentzion Bruk asked the question we all wondered about, why will answering Amein confuse the Chazan?

He answers that we see from here what Amein really is. It is not just a chant at the end of a bracha. In order for Amein to bring the bracha it must be said with such deep kavana that it will make you become disoriented when you land back in your place.

Receiving reward

Confronting General Eisenhower Over Allies’ Refusal to Bomb Auschwitz

The Parsha states, "Im Bechukoisai Taylaychu" - Hashem tells us: "If you will walk in my ordinances and observe my commandments and perform them. Then I will provide your rains in their time, and the land will give its produce and the tree of the field will give its fruit" (Leviticus 26:3-4). Rashi explains "Walking in Hashem's ways", as toiling in Torah study. The question arises, why is "Toiling in Torah study" referred to as a "Chok"? Chukim are Mitzvos which one can not comprehend. Why is Amaylus BaTorah referred to as "Bechukoisai Taylaychu"?

We find concerning secular subjects, if one puts in tremendous effort in getting good grades, but falls short, he will not receive any compensation for his efforts. One will not graduate from Law School based on his efforts. If one makes the grade, then he will graduate, if he doesn't, then he will fail. This is not so concerning Torah. Hashem does not look at what a person knows, rather he looks at how much effort and Amaylus he puts in. Since this is something so uncommon in the outside world, we can consider it a "Chok" which is not comprehendible.

When we make a siyum, part of the text reads: Anu Amaylim Ve'haim Amaylim. Anu Amaylim Umekablim Sachar Ve'haim Amaylim Ve'aynom Mekablim Sachar. What is meaning of this phrase ? The Meforshim say a similar insight with the following parable:

A person goes to a tailor to order a suit. The tailor measures him, and the customer decides on a blue suit in a particular style. Two weeks later the tailor calls to say that the suit is ready. The style is perfect and the fit too, though the tailor mistakenly made a gray suit. Even though he was 'AMAYL', the tailor does not get his Sachar. With learning Torah, it is not this way: When one toils at Torah, one gets sachar for every minute, even if one doesn't understand his learning completely. That is the meaning of Anu Amaylim Umekablim Sachar. We toil and receive reward for the toil itself, even if we fall short in our results.

Two versions of the same incident. - Which one to believe?

Five people were killed in an explosion in the central Gaza Strip on Saturday (May 5) in what was thought to be an accidental blast, residents and the health ministry said.

Gaza's health ministry confirmed five people were killed and three others wounded in what residents said appeared to be an accidental explosion in the Az-Zawayda area of the central Gaza Strip.
