A NYTimes article about the Temple Mount published today states, "Earlier, Palestinians had gathered near the entrance to the site used by non-Muslims, blocking part of the route that is usually used by Jews to pray discreetly near the location of an ancient Jewish temple considered the holiest place in Judaism."

A NYTimes article published in 1990 states, "The plateau is also Judaism's holiest site because the Biblical first and second temples - those of Solomon and Herod - stood there."
