Monticello: Jewish Man Assaulted While Walking To Shul Friday Night

A number of years ago, a relative was walking on the streets of Antwerp on Shabbos and was accosted by an individual demanding money. He explained that he didn't have any because Jews don't carry money on the Sabbath. Thankfully, my relative wasn't assaulted, as in the case of the Monticello man, but, I wonder if  Rabbi Yair Hoffman is going to  write an article about whether it is permissible to carry money on Shabbos, to avert physical danger.
