The story related below is an example of how to honor one's parents to the utmost. It reminded me of a previous post that I wrote about Dr.Yashar Hirshaut a couple of years ago.
I was witness to his walking to shul in Lawrence with his aging mother. He carried a chair with him and every so often he would stop and set the chair on the ground so that his mother would be able to rest before continuing on her walk to the synagogue on Shabbat. The sight left an indelible impression on my mind and serves as a paradigm of how to fulfill the mitzvah of kibbud av va'em.
