Last week I attended a shiur about prayer in which the lecturer based her words on a sefer called Shemoneh Esrei by Avrohom Chaim Feuer. I was so impressed that I resolved to obtain the book. In searching for it online, I came across the opening pages and urge everyone to read it so that your prayer will take upon a different and hopefully loftier approach. You can view the pages over here. Below is one sentence taken from the sefer.
"Prayer is so closely identified with our forefathers that it is popularly called davenen, a corruption of the Aramaic term d'avuhon, of our fathers."
