I was particularly struck by one sentence, "The more liberal a Jew is, the less likely he is to celebrate the substance of his people's holidays as they conflict with his worldview and virtues."
Yesterday I read about a 21-year-old Jewish student who passed away from complications of a seizure and I was surprised to see that a memorial service is being offered for Jews and non-Jews to be led by Hillel, and a "rabbi" among others, tomorrow beginning at 6:30 PM. Will the service conclude before the onset of Shabbat?

Finally, as many people are dissatisfied with the candidates representing the Republican and Democrat parties, I am announcing my Presidential run under a new party - the PURIM party - (People United Regarding Immigraion of Migrants.)
What is my poition regarding this particular issue? Depends on which audience I am addressing at the time and the results of polls. I would be happy to alter my words depending on the polls. Once I ger elected, my position will be revealed.
How true about all those running for office. They promise the moon but wind up giving the swamp. It's very rare to get truth, but in reality, sometimes even if they try once in office, they themselves have an uphill battle against those in gov who will fight against them. That's why the Jewish way of having a righteous 'leader' (king) is the only way, (i.e., Moshe, David, the prophetess and Judge, Dvorah, etc.).
ReplyDeleteRegarding Hillel on campuses; they have proven for quite a while they have departed from the Jewish way. Organized Jewish institutions have lost all connection to what we are. They seem to be too far gone to come back. The individual Jew must awaken and return and do teshuva.
