A reader comments on an article in the Washington Post titled In their 80s and 90s, three Jewish women finally become bat mitzvahs.

I believe the correct Hebrew plural would be bnot mitzvah -- בנות מצוה -- and not "bat mitvahs" as written in the Post headline to this story.

  1. On the bat mitzvah story above. Found it laughable because bnot mitzvah is a new 'practice'. Think it was thought up in the mid 20th century. The assimilated Jews have discarded the real mitzvot (only because of ignorance of Jewish laws), but am sure that these lovely ladies had many mitzvot over the years anyway so why not have a nice party to celebrate! MAZAL TOV to them!
