This week's Parsha records the incident of Bilam with his donkey, on his way to curse the Jewish People. The donkey has strayed from its normal path and veered off the road. As an immediate reaction, Bilam strikes the donkey numerous times. Hashem miraculously puts words in the mouth of the donkey which then asks Bilam "Why did you strike me these three times?" The term referring to 'times' used in this passuk is "Shalosh Regalim". Why is the word 'Regelim' used here instead of the word 'Pe'amim'- which is the normative choice of word?
