How many?

I caught a YouTube video where President Clinton was asked his opinion on building a mosque at the sight of ground zero. He responded that a lot of the controversy could have been avoided "if the people who want to build the center would simply say we are dedicating this center to all the Muslims who were killed on 9/11. ....There were a lot of Muslims killed on 9/11. .....I think most Americans do not know that there were a substantial number of Muslims killed on 9/11."

Curious to know how many Muslims were killed on 9/11, I googled the question and was provided with different answers to the question. One site stated that a couple of dozen were killed and provided a list of about 30 names.
Another site stated that approximately 23 Muslims were killed.

An article in the Arizona republic claimed that Omar Shahin of the Tucson Islamic Center had said that over 1,200 Muslims had been killed.
That seems a high figure, since that would mean 40% of the victims were Muslim. As Muslims do not comprise 40% of the general American population, the figure seems somewhat inflated.

Below is a video where Omar Shahin, began a question to John Brennan, Deputy National Security Adviser for Homeland Security by saying, "I'll be honest, as always." Omar Shahin is one of the imams removed from a US Airways flight after passsengers and crew members became susopicious of their behavior aboard the flight. An out of court settlment was agreed upon by the imams and the air carrier.

Why the wide disrepancy in the figures? Perhaps President Clinton could clarify how many people he was talking about.
